Bolo is a voice keyboard for iPhone and Android made by CUROVANA TECHNOLOGIES PRIVATE LIMITED (“Curovana”, “we”). This policy explains what happens to your voice, your text and your settings when you use the Bolo app and the Bolo keyboard. In short: your voice goes to Sarvam AI to be turned into text, and nothing else leaves your iPhone. We don’t run accounts, ads, analytics or tracking.

Your voice

• Bolo records audio only between your taps on the mic: one tap starts a dictation, the next tap ends it.
• On iPhone, so the keyboard can work in other apps, Bolo keeps the microphone ready in the background for a time you choose (5 to 60 minutes; 15 by default). iOS shows the orange microphone indicator while it’s ready. During that time audio is not saved or sent anywhere unless you are dictating.
• On Android, the Bolo keyboard opens the microphone only while you are dictating and closes it when you tap the mic again or leave the text field. Android shows its microphone indicator while it’s on.
• When you finish a dictation, the recording is sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection directly from your iPhone to Sarvam AI, which turns it into text and sends the text back. Curovana’s servers are not involved and we do not receive your recordings or transcripts.
• If you turn on “Clean up text”, the transcript is also sent to Sarvam AI’s language model to remove filler words and fix punctuation.
• Recordings are not stored on your phone after they are sent.

Sarvam AI processes this data as our speech-recognition provider under its own terms. Please read Sarvam AI’s privacy policy to learn how it handles audio and text.

Your text

• On iPhone, your most recent dictation is kept on the device, in storage shared only by the Bolo app and the Bolo keyboard, so the keyboard can type it into the app you’re using. It is replaced by your next dictation. On Android, the keyboard types the text directly and keeps no copy.
• To decide whether to add a space before your words, the keyboard looks at the text just before your cursor. It is not stored or sent anywhere.
• The Bolo keyboard does not record, store or send what you type with it or with any other keyboard.

Why the iPhone keyboard needs Full Access

iOS doesn’t let keyboards use the microphone, so the Bolo keyboard asks the Bolo app to record for it. “Allow Full Access” is what lets the keyboard and the app pass messages and your dictated text to each other on your iPhone. The keyboard does not use Full Access to connect to the internet or to collect data.

On Android, every keyboard you turn on gets a standard notice that it could collect what you type. The Bolo keyboard only sends the audio of your dictations to Sarvam AI; it does not record, store or send anything you type.

Settings and your API key

Your choices (language, writing style, lowercase, how long the mic stays ready) are stored on your iPhone. If you add your own Sarvam API key, it is stored on your phone (in the iPhone Keychain, or in the app’s private storage on Android, excluded from backups) and sent only to Sarvam AI with your requests.

Beta testing

While Bolo is in beta it is distributed through Apple’s TestFlight and Google Play testing tracks. Apple and Google may share with us the crash reports and feedback you choose to send, along with the information their privacy policies (Apple, Google) describe. We use them only to fix and improve Bolo.

What we don’t do

• No account or sign-up.
• No advertising, analytics or tracking SDKs, and no selling or sharing of your data for advertising.
• No collection of contacts, location or anything you type.

Children

Bolo is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your choices

You can stop the microphone at any time, turn off the Bolo keyboard in your phone’s keyboard settings (and Full Access on iPhone), or delete the app, which removes everything Bolo stored on your phone. For data held by Sarvam AI, see its privacy policy or contact Sarvam AI.

Changes

If we change how Bolo handles your data, we will update this page and the date above before the change takes effect.
